Icelandic Soul | Ásgeir Trausti

At first listen it may sound like Bon Iver played backwards, but Ásgeir Trausti's gentle vocals and melodies soon tug at your sleeve and slip easily into your consciousness. The 20-year old Icelander cleaned up at the 2013 Icelandic Music Awards winning four gongs including Best Pop/Rock Album for debut Dýrd í Daudapögn – catch rousing horns on the title track, and we defy you not to feel the funk of the hit single, Leyndarmál.

Signed to One Little Indian Records where he’s settled in nicely with label-mates Bjork and The Computers, Trausti has toured the UK with John Grant. An English version of the record was translated by none other than Mr Grant himself.
